Feet First recognizes that every person has individual needs. We’re guided by our desire to help maintain independence, prevent injury & illness, and provide comfort for those with unique foot care needs. We provide nursing foot care services by experienced, qualified nurses, including a full range of pedorthic services.
History
Established In 1996
Feet First was established by Rhonda Doan as a practice for Nursing Foot Care in 1996 and she has over 27 years of nursing experience. The practice has grown today to include Pedorthics, Nursing Foot Care Clinic and Shoe Store. All individuals are registered practitioners with the College of Nurses of Ontario, and certified in basic, advanced, and diabetic nursing foot care. Rhonda is certified by the Canadian Wound Care Association and is a certified compression stocking fitter. With background in Nursing, Cardiovascular Technology and as an educator of the cardiovascular system Rhonda is skilful at both measuring and fitting for compression stocking use.
Rhonda Doan worked at the Plumber Hospital for twelve years. Seven years as a Registered Practical Nurse. Five years as a Registered Cardiology Technologist
Rhonda has a diploma in Gerontology. She studied Nursing Foot Care in Kingston Ontario and has certification in basic, advanced, and diabetic nursing foot care. She studied pedorthics at Oklahoma State University in the US. She maintains certification with the College of Pedorthics of Canada and registration with the Canadian Pedorthic Association as both a Certified Pedorthics Technician and Certified Pedorthist.
Within the orthotic industry, Canadian Certified Pedorthists have emerged at the forefront of orthotic therapy and have become the “go-to” profession for many insurance companies and government departments needing to define policies and procedures around orthotic reimbursement. Rhonda works with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSSM) providing opportunities for medical students to gain experience in the area of biomechanics of the lower limbs and feet. She was hired as an international consultant by Pal Health Technologies.
In 2003, after eight years of sharing occupancy with Dr. Philip Catania, GP/Sports Medicine physician, Rhonda expanded the practice from the Medical Arts Center on East Street, moved to Pim Street and opened a shoe store along with the Pedorthic and Nursing Foot Care Clinic. In 2013, we opened a full service shoe store with a wide range of shoe brands including such names as Birkenstock, Finn Comfort, Mephisto, Clark’s, Alegria, PW Minor, Cobb Hill along with slippers, steel-toe CSA approved work boots and the orthopedic footwear lines we already provided
We have expanded our product line to include accessory items including purses, scarves, jewelry, and the Lysse Leggings line of clothing.

Rhonda Doan, Registered Practical Nurse has more than twenty years of experience providing nursing foot care services in the community and in the clinical setting. Rhonda Doan has worked in Pedorthics for in the clinical setting for 20 years and was Certified as a Pedorthist in 2003.
